Resources for teachers, by teachers

By Rushton Hurley

I should start by making it clear I know Karen and Gene, the two gifted educators that write the Common Core and Educational Technology blog. They were part of the 2011 cohort of the MERIT program which I directed, and so I can say without any hint of subjectivity that they're amazing people.

So what have they done? They have launched a blog in which strong educational technology resources are explored for those focused on Common Core-framed curricula.

A mid-February post on the National Science Digital Library notes how the materials presented there map to Common Core math standards, and another recent one focuses on a collection of interactive learning sites for those developing learning centers around the classroom.

It's my hope that this blog will be a space that keeps supporters of Common Core standards focused on real learning through powerful resources, as opposed to simplistic assessment models designed to help measure real estate values. Karen and Gene are focused on meaningful educational experiences of children, and that's the right perspective on learning, in my humble opinion.

Please give the site a look, and give them your feedback.
