Here are four fabulous ways you can leverage Google Drive in your work as an Administrator:
1) Go paperless! Set your environmentally-friendly tone and standard for your teachers, students and community by making paperless versions of agendas and minutes the norm and printing FAR fewer to make available when necessary. We had an 8th grade student as our Secretary for School Site Council and she took the minutes directly in a Google Doc as we met. I could review the minutes as needed and post them to our website in real-time.
2) Get organized! Create folders for the following: whole-staff, teachers only, each of your grade level- or content area-teams (and if you have GAFE enabled for students, create folders for groups of students, as well). As you create documents in Google Drive, easily drag and drop them into their respective folders. Consider making two folders within each of those folders, as well: one for viewing only and one that includes documents that you would like to be able to be edited.
3) Get Mobile! Using Google Drive on your Android-powered device, like a Sony Xperia tablet, is now easier than ever. Download the app and project real-time collaboration in your meetings.
4) Lead by example! Did you know that there are national standards for administrators related to educational technology? The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has created National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for Administrators, Teachers, Students, Coaches and Computer Science Teachers. Take a look at these and it’s clear why you should be using Google Drive.
Sony's Education Ambassadors volunteer their time and knowledge to Sony in the pursuit of helping educators adapt to new technology in the classroom. Each SEA member was provided a Sony Xperia™ Tablet to evaluate, to help them better understand the device’s features.
