This is the sixth in a series of resources outlining apps, Web sites, and ideas for using Bloom's Revised Taxonomy to support teaching and learning. This resource deals with Android apps for the highest of Bloom's levels, creating.
The previous posts in the series were:
An overview of Bloom's and apps to support the remembering level
Apps to support the understanding level
Apps to support the applying level
Apps to support the analyzing level
Apps to support the evaluating level
The highest level, creating, is the ability to generate new ideas, create new products, or come up with new ways of doing things.
Students reorganize acquired knowledge and information to create this new end result.

Diane Darrow, in her Edutopis series, suggests thinking about these questions when picking an app for students to use at the creating level...
Filming: Stop-Motion-Lite
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sheado.lite.stopmotion&hl=en
Stop-Motion-Lite allows the creation of a stop-motion-animation video using the camera on the tablet. Students can view the previous "shot" before taking the next image in the sequence. This movie was created with this software.
Planning: StoryBoard Maker
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.bizenkou.karakama.storyboardmaker
When planning a video, students should always start with a storyboard so they can plan their shots and camera angles. StoryBoard Maker is an easy-to-use Android app that can help with this process.
Digital Storytelling: WeVideo
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wevideo.mobile.android&hl=en
Students can easily create a digital story or other type of video using the WeVideo app. Users can record video into the app and trim clips. There are built in music clips and transitions that can be chosen, or students can use images and music from their device. Items can be shared on WeVideo, YouTube, or Facebook. Students can also save the edited video directly to their device.

Presenting: Deck Slideshow Presentations
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.deck.mobile&hl=en
This app guides the user through the creation of a presentation by first having them outline the key points, add supporting points, add graphs and diagrams, and then pick from a number of formal, cool, and fun themes!

Composing: Explain Everything $2.99
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.morriscooke.explaineverything
Although Explain Everything is a paid app, it has long been considered the "gold standard" of screencasting programs on the iOS platform. It recently came to the Android platform. It allows students to create slides, add shapes, text, and use a laser pointer to highlight items as the recording is created. The user can add photos and PDF docs and export the finished project as an .mp4 file or upload it to YouTube.
I have developed two critical evaluation instruments, one to use for creation apps and one to use for content apps. They may be found by clicking on the images below. The instruments are PDF documents that can be filled-out via the computer, saved, shared, and printed.
